MEMBERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve one week each summer on a team of 2-3 members to water and weed our plantings at Avon Town Hall.  Members who can’t kneel and bend are assigned to caring for the window boxes.  Members also plant the Town Hall gardens in May and remove annuals in October.

Provide a floral arrangement, expression of natural material or suitably interesting plant for one week each year for Exhibition at the Avon Library.

Serve on a Hospitality Committee for a club meeting luncheon once a year.  When we have a large number of guests at a meeting, all members are asked to help.

Annual dues are $40.  If you join January 1st or later, you pay $20 for the balance of the club year and will then be asked in June along with current members to pay the full year’s dues for the following club year (August 1st-July 31st).

The Garden Club of Avon does not require members to attend a specific number of meetings, but does ask for active support in projects, especially our High Tea.

As a member of the Garden Club of Avon, you are also a member of Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut.   Workshops, tours and information are listed on the Federated website: ctgardenclubs.org

Membership in the Garden Club of Avon is open to men as well as women.  We ask prospective members to attend two meetings as guests prior to submitting an application to join the club so that they have a chance to experience what we do, meet members and ask questions.
